Bringing together an exciting mix of vendors and presenters for a weekend of Tenkara in America's hidden gem of trout fishing!
Midwest Tenkara Fest 2017 is being held in Coon Valley, WI. It is only a 25 minute drive from La Crosse, about 2 .5 hours from Madison, 3 hours from Minneapolis, and 3.5 hours from Milwaukee. See the "Travel and Lodging" page for more information about airports and hotels.
The "Driftless" region is a small chunk of the mid-west that escaped being ground down by glaciers during the last Ice age. It is a land of rocky bluffs and sprawling valleys. Most importantly to our purposes, it is home to hundreds of miles of spring-fed limestone streams - full of trout!
Local trout streams include some of the best the region has to offer. The Timber Coulee, North Fork of the Bad Axe, Kickapoo River, and many more are within an easy drive; Come see for yourself why Vernon County trout streams are local legends!
We will set up shop for the weekend at the American Legion hall, adjacent to a park, where a well developed section of Coon Creek runs only a few hundred feet away. We'll have plenty of room and a perfect setting for "on the water" learning.
The entire venue, including the park and the trout stream, are fully wheelchair accessible.
The American Legion hall itself will make a great base camp for the weekend. It is fully stocked with amenities! -Capacity to 234 in Hall and 43 in the bar -Air Conditioning -Large, clean, handicap accessible restrooms (each with a changing table) -Large Parking Area by Legion and nearby in park
